About

Meet Clare

Hi, my name is Clare Seagrave, and I am a Clinical Nutritionist and Clinical Advanced Hypnotherapist based in Mangawhai, New Zealand.

My work focuses on the powerful connection between the brain, nervous system, gut and body, bringing together clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, hypnotherapy, Havening and gut-directed hypnotherapy to help people create meaningful and lasting change.

I have a particular interest in the gut–brain connection and IBS and am the creator of GutBrainA, my 8-week gut-directed hypnotherapy programme. GutBrainA uses structured gut-directed hypnotherapy techniques to help calm the gut–brain connection, reduce gut-related anxiety and visceral sensitivity, and support healthier patterns of digestive function.

I also have a strong interest in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause. This stage of life can bring significant physical and emotional changes, and I believe women deserve to feel informed, supported and empowered as they navigate this transition. Through nutrition, herbal support, hypnotherapy and nervous system regulation, I help women better understand their changing bodies and support their overall wellbeing through midlife and beyond.

Alongside this, I use Havening and hypnotherapy to help clients work with stress, subconscious patterns and emotional responses that may be influencing their physical and emotional wellbeing.

My approach to clinical nutrition and herbal medicine is individualised, looking beyond symptoms to understand the person as a whole. Where appropriate, nutritional strategies, herbal remedies, Bach Flowers and Homeobotanicals may be incorporated to provide practical and personalised support.

A little about my journey

My path into health and wellbeing has evolved over many years. In my 20s and early 30s, I travelled and sailed around the world while working as a qualified chef aboard superyachts for more than eleven years. My love of food and its connection to health eventually led me in a completely new direction.

After returning to New Zealand, I began studying Naturopathy before transitioning into Clinical Nutrition. I later trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, fascinated by the influence the brain, subconscious mind and nervous system can have on the way we experience our bodies.

My continued interest in holistic health and the mind–body connection led me to further training in Gut Directed Hypnotherapy, Havening Techniques, Herbal Medicine, Bach Flower remedies and Homeobotanicals. These years of study and experience have shaped the way I work today, allowing me to draw upon a range of approaches depending on the individual and what they need.

Now in my 50s, my work has naturally evolved alongside my own life experience. After taking several years away from clinical practice while running a kombucha nano-brewery, I returned to the work I am most passionate about: helping people better understand their bodies, their minds and the powerful connection between the two.

Today, I work with clients through clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, hypnotherapy, Havening and gut-directed hypnotherapy, both in person and online.

I also share information and practical tools through my YouTube channel @clareseagrave, covering nutrition, herbal medicine, the gut–brain connection, hypnotherapy, nervous system wellbeing, perimenopause and menopause, and ways to support a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Calm the mind. Support the body. Create lasting change.
